Welcome to issue 35 of NR Times - your digital, monthly magazine covering neuro-rehab from every angle.

Despite the summer slowdown, recent months have been a busy period in terms of neuro-rehab development. On the technology front, we've seen a range of devices and innovations progress into patient settings.

Strolll, for example, has teamed up with US care giant Cleveland Clinic to take its augmented reality solution forward in Parkinson's care; particularly around reducing falls risk. Brain imaging is also advancing rapidly. In the latest stride forward, researchers at MIT have shown the world how to 'finely process, richly label, and sharply image' full hemispheres of the brains of two donors — one with Alzheimer’s disease and one without — at high resolution and speed.

We've also seen the successful trialling of robotic ‘coaches’ to help aid upper limb rehabilitation for stroke and brain injury survivors. The trial, in Vienna, is part of an international pilot study led by researchers from the UK’s National Robotarium. You can read about these and other such developments in our rehab tech section.

For all this progress, however, neuro-rehab interventions are nothing without the input of experienced professionals working towards patient goals.

In this month's NR Insight section you'll find lots of informative and, hopefully inspiring, ideas from experts in the field that could help you in your work. Watch out also for our cover story on the change needed to remove barriers on the spinal cord injury rehab journey; plus thought leadership articles on ABI in the context of pregnancy and parenthood and an in-depth conversation about the role of specialist nursing in NR.

Until next time please be sure to get your nominations in for the second annual NR Times Award by September 30.

The awards present a unique opportunity to celebrate the very best of brain and spinal injury rehab, with winners and shortlisted entries receiving extensive online coverage across all NR Times platforms.

Winners will also receive a physical NR Times Award and will be interviewed for NR Times, with the article shared across our social media channels. Best of luck!
